IS300 is entry-level for Lexus ... made for Honda Civic owners who have grown out of their Civics, thus the styling of the IS. Some like the looks, others don't. I personally like the way it looks. As far as build quality goes, although it wears the Lexus badge, it is no Lexus. Ever driven a top-of-the-line Civic? Feels the same way, only it's a bit bigger. Compared to a 300ZX or other Lexus, the IS is crap! I owned an SC300 and was part of [ www.clublexus.com. ] SEVERAL members on that forum went into the Lexus dealers wanting to buy brand-new IS300s, but came home with used SC300/400s. Why? IS is bottom-end, SC is top-end. New IS starts at 32k. You can get a 2-year-old SC for about 32k. You get what you pay for. Oh wait! SC is a coupe! :p Sedans? Here are some to consider -- BMW 3-series, Acura 3.2TL, and my FAVORITE, the Nissan Altima 3.5SE (this car gives the Lexus guys a scare). All these are nice sedans with tasteful styling and performance-oriented.
